Target Make-up Haul!!
I can't seem to leave Tar-jay without just popping past the make-up section. When they're having a sale in the make-up section, it's even harder to bypass! Out of the things that I bought, I think that the most expensive thing was the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain at AU$17. I didn't even check the price on that one, I just really liked it when I tried the tester on the back of my hand in the store.
This will be somewhat of a haul and a few first impressions. I haven't tried everything out yet, and some of what I have tried, I haven't left on for long.
Anyway...on with the haul!!
Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Charm
This soft, crayon like pencil shape lip product feels just beautiful on the lips. It definitely has more of a smooth, hydrating balm feel than most lipsticks. When I first looked at it, I was thinking that maybe being called a stain, it would be like those marker type lip stains that came out a few years ago. But this is definitely like a lip balm in pencil form. It's so soft and creamy, it has a slight menthol smell to it, but it doesn't leave a tingling feeling on your lips, it just feels really hydrating. I don't think it would be a long lasting colour as you go about your day, but it is super easy to re-apply! The shade Charm is probably the lightest colour that I noticed there. It's a really sweet and subtle almost light peach or light apricot! (And by light, I mean light!!) It's definitely subtle, but not so subtle to go unnoticed. I put it on last night with out any other make-up on, and my boyfriend asked me if I was wearing lipstick. So,I consider that fairly noticeable!! I will definitely be heading out to buy this in more colours. Though this shade is lovely, I think it is still quite understated, so I would love to see what the colour is like in some of the darker shades!
Super Liner Luminizer by L'Oreal in Brown Eyes
Now, I have green eyes, but this lil guy was AU$6.11 - and Brown Eyes was the only shade I could find it in. This is what looks like a black liquid liner with a slight shimmer to it. Usually, I wouldn't like too much shimmer in my eyeliner, however the "light reflecting particles" (as L'Oreal call them on their website) aren't too over the top. This goes on nicely. I wore it to work yesterday and it lasted well, didn't irritate my eyes and the shimmer really wasn't too noticeable at all. The tip is almost like a thin, flattened felt tip. It is nice to apply and goes on easily.
The black liquid is probably not the darkest black out there, but it's nice if you don't want to go super dramatic with your liner. I would like to see how different the other shades in this are, because I'm pretty sure that this is a black liner with shimmer. I'm not sure what colour the shimmer is and it doesn't seem like there is anything that screams "this is for brown eyes!" Maybe it's the colour of the shimmer, but I'm really not sure as I haven't compared it to any of the other shades, which according to the L'Oreal UK website, come in Hazel/Brown Eyes, Blue Eyes and Green Eyes. (No actual mention of the single Brown Eyes version on there.)
Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balm
I love these little guys, and honestly, I don't think you can have enough lip balm, especially when the packaging is so cute. There's just something about the look of these lip balms that makes me happy. It's cutesy and I like it and as long as there are different colours (of the packaging) for me to buy, I will pick them up when I see them. These ones don't have any colour to the balm, they are just a balm. I use lip balms all the time and the fact that this doesn't end up leaving my lips feeling dryer is a plus, as I know of a lot of cheaper balms have the tendency to do that! These are great under a lip pencil too if you find that lip pencils sometimes bring out the flakiness in your lips, swipe this on first, then use your lip liner over the top. It may not be as long lasting, but it feels better to me! Using this method, my lips usually last until I eat my lunch, so I think that is acceptable for luscious feeling lips!
Essence Silky Touch Blush
How did I only just find out about Essence?! These products are so inexpensive and yet (so far) they seem like such good quality! This blush gives really nice colour pay off. It's a dusty peachy rose colour that adds a nice flush colour to the skin for perfectly rosy cheeks without any ruddiness! This one was AU$4.95. So far, today is the only day I have used it and it is such a natural colour that is pretty perfect for my fair skin tone. It definitely has a shimmer to it, which is not fantastic in my opinion as I prefer my blushers to be a fairly matte finish. Though I don't think that it's too over the top. It doesn't look like super sparkles, but there's definitely a
shimmer when you look at the powder. The colour is babydoll which is probably half the reason that I picked this one up - since I'm a sucker for a cutesy name!
I can't remember if I saw any other shades in this blush, but I will definitely be popping past the display next time I'm in Target to check out what else this brand offers. The only thing about this I'm not completely in love with is the packaging. It looks fine, but it is a little hard to open. Maybe it's just me, but I found it a little bit tight to flip open easily. It's not a big issue and it's definitely not something that would put me off buying these again in the future, but I did chip the corner of my nail...just so you know! :p
L'Oreal Studio Secrets Professional Universal Lip Glow
I remember my Mum buying products like these when I was younger. The lipstick that changes colour once it touches your skin. I honestly haven't tried this on my lips just yet, though testing it out on the back of my hand resulted in a delightful light pinky colour. I should really test it out to see if my lips end up anything similar to the colour that appeared on the back of my hand. I will have to come back to this guy at some stage and give you some kind of opinion on it. The one thing I will say is that the ones that my Mum used to buy seemed to take a lot of scrubbing to remove, however, this one wiped off of my hand pretty easily. This one was on special too, down to AU$7.45.
L'Oreal Color Infalliable in Cosmic Black, Metallic Lilac & Magnetic Coral
I have seen people raving about these eye shadows and when I saw them in the clearance basket, I just couldn't help myself. I have a feeling there was another shade that I thought I had picked up but it seems like I didn't - which made me a bit sad when I came home to discover I only had three of them! Woe is me, I know!! I have only tried one of these shades on my eyes, and that's the Magnetic Coral. I wore this to work yesterday and it's just adorable! It's super buildable on the eyelids! You can definitely make this quite a sheer look, or build up the colour for a more dramatic feel. I didn't use any kind of eyelid primer underneath and I found that this lasted really well all day at work! It didn't crease, it didn't smudge and the colour looked great!
I think it keeps the packaging clean. I will be looking for more colours in these and hopefully finding another shade I love as much as I liked that coral colour! I think if all the shades are similar to these ones then it's definitely a great line of products. Each one is so different. The colours are super buildable and are also look really nice as just a sheer swipe of colour. The packaging is really easy to use and to store and there looks to be quite a decent amount of product in each little jar. I got these one sale for AU$4.99 - which I was very excited about! I can't wait to get my hands on some more colours and play around with blending and building them and using them with shadows that I already have!
If you don't like shimmery eyeshadow I would probably steer clear of these. There's a lot of shimmer happening and there can be a little fall out from them, but they are quite easy to use and easy to clean up after.
Essence Forget It 3 in 1 Concealer
So, just to say it one more time...how did I not know about Essence??
I bought this little concealer palette really only because I needed a redness colour correcting primer and didn't feel like paying for the Napoleon one when I had already picked up so much other make-up!! I really am yet to try a good anti-redness primer/correcter/whatever you'd like to call it. I've tried good primers (Napoleon, Smashbox, Rimmel all have great primers!) but they haven't really evened out the redness in my cheeks and chin. I thought about buying the Smashbox one, but could only get it online and I'm impatient. So, I picked this up on a whim. And I'm so glad I did. I've used this 3 times so far. (Twice in one day.) All I did was pat the green corrector over any redness (quite liberally) and then apply my foundation over the top. I did use the pink as an under eye concealer as well.
I didn't try the bottom colour as I didn't really have any blemished that needed covering. I am so pleased with this little palette. It is small, so I am worried about how long it might last, especially because I do have a bit of redness to cover. So far so good though. It really worked well. It hid the redness all day and my foundation looked smooth over the top. The pink corrector worked well under my eyes, though most of my darkness is towards the inner corner of my eye and it took a little blending to make it look smooth and not cakey in that area. All in all though, this is definitely good if you have any redness. This was AU$4.50 and I'm pretty sure that that is the regular price! Just remember that a colour correctors like this are made to be worn under a foundation. It's not supposed to be worn by itself!
Australis Show Stopper Gloss Stick in Fairy Floss
This is my new favourite lip product of life! It is such a great colour and has such a smooth feeling on the lips. This colour is such a great pink shade. Light and bright and definitely suits it's name! This is another lip product that looks like a pencil and this makes it so easy to use! The tip makes it like colouring in your lips, but the product itself really does work like a lipstick. It's a great mix, it makes application so easy! I have to say, with a name like Fairy Floss there was really no way I wasn't going to pick it up, but I would love to find it in different shades. I have to say, this shade is perfect for me though. I am a sucker for pink! And this kind of light pink is what I prefer to wear.
I'm pretty sure this one was AU$10.00 on sale. I think my Target were selling off a lot of their Australis products, this was in a basket with a lot of other Australis items and the Australis display that used to be there was gone. I hope that this is just an update or something, because I really do like Australis and it's convenient to be able to buy it in Target. This is probably on par with the concealer palette as my favourite purchase.
Revlon Colorburst Lip Gloss in Crystal Lilac & Strawberry Fraise
Great lip glosses! Look at the size of the tube! The doe foot applicator is super soft and they have great colour pay off! These were on sale as well, for AU$10.88ea. I love the packaging of the Colorburst range, I think that the quilted look to is really elegant. This lighter colour, Crystal Lilac is just perfect over the top of the Australis Gloss Stick (above). It's my new favourite lip combination. My favourite lip gloss of all time is the Victorias Secret Sugar Rush. Honestly, nothing beats that for me (so far) but these guys really are a close second. The colour is great, the gloss is glossy but doesn't feel tacky or sticky.
They don't leave your lips feeling dry if you wear them without a liner of a lipstick or balm under them and the colour pay off when worn alone is really good and quite long lasting too!
Revlon Colorburst in Pink Sugar
Like I said before, I love the packaging of the Colorburst range. In the tube, this colour looked so perfect. I do like it, but it is quite sheer. I think it will be nice to layer over a lip pencil, but on it's own, there isn't a great deal of colour to it. It does feel great on and I will probably look for it in some other shades. I'm sure this was tagged at $AU6.95, but it looks like I may have paid $AU11.95. Ooops...keep an eye on that register. Can't complain, still cheaper than full price!
Australis Lip Pencil in Bashful
This is a nice nude lip colour for lining the lips. It's definitely not super pink, it's more like a nude that looks very similar to my natural lip colour. This would be a good one for filling in lips!!
It was $AU2.00!!
Well, that concludes my Tar-jay haul. I love buying things on sale. It really makes it easy to justify buying them doesn't it! I am super happy with a number of these purchases and some of them I will hopefully be able to repurchase in the future! I'm definitely keen to give some other products from some of the ranges I have mentioned, especially Essence. I can't believe how affordable those products are.
I am absolutely in love with that Australis Gloss Stick and I think anyone who loves a bright pink lip should definitely give it a go. It's wonderful!!!
This will be somewhat of a haul and a few first impressions. I haven't tried everything out yet, and some of what I have tried, I haven't left on for long.
Anyway...on with the haul!!

I didn't use any kind of eyelid primer underneath and I found that this lasted really well all day at work! It didn't crease, it didn't smudge and the colour looked great!
This coral colour is my favourite of the three that I bought. Yes, it is the only one that I have actually worn for a whole day, but I do think just from swatching the three it has the best colour pay off too. It's such an easy and fast way to add a pop of colour to your look if you're in a hurry. I blended this with another gold shadow and then pressed more of the coral in the centre of my eyelid once I was finished with the other colours to add even more colour to the middle of my eye. I really liked this look.
The Metallic Lilac is definitely also really pretty and very blendable and buildable. I haven't used this all over the lid, but I can imagine it would look great with purple smokey eye.
Cosmic Black on first swipe is very light. It's almost a shimmery browny grey colour when you apply one light layer. It's buildable, but I think it would take a bit of work to make it super dark. It's so pretty to look at in the packaging, so shimmery and cosmic was definitely the right choice of name! I used this lightly along my lashline today with a blue shadow (and brown/rose colours to blend it up into the crease.) I think that this shade would really compliment a brown smokey eye.
I think that these little guys deserve the praise that they have been getting. I really do like the packaging. I like the little lids that sit on top of the product under the screw cap.I think it keeps the packaging clean. I will be looking for more colours in these and hopefully finding another shade I love as much as I liked that coral colour! I think if all the shades are similar to these ones then it's definitely a great line of products. Each one is so different. I definitely want to try the Revlon lip balm stains! I haven't tried them yet, I somehow have said *no* every time I've passed the display! Also the L'Oreal infallibles are TO DIE FOR! Love them! :)

I'm so glad I picked up the Revlon lip balm stain! It feel so nice on, but next time I will definitely try a darker colour! This one is veeerrryyy sheer!!!
